    • John was the Mayor Saint Colomb, Sillery, Quebec from 1866 to 1870. As member of the Conservative party, was a member of the Quebec National Assembly in 1892 for Stadacona.

      John was the owner of a lumber mill at Wolfe's Cove and L'Anse-au-Foulon.

      Cherrier's Quebec City Directory (1886-87) has John living at 174 Grand Allee in the winter at Wolfe's Cove in the summer where his lumber mill and ship repairing business was located.

      Entry in the Quebec Official Gazette - 1895:

      FIERI FACIAS. Quebec, to wit :) FRANK ROSS, of the city of Quebec, merchant ; against JAMES GEGGIE, of the city of Quebec, in his quality of curator to the vacant estate of the late Honorable John Roche, in his lifetime of the city of Quebec, un. reliant, to wit :
      1 Lot number two hundred and twenty-nine (No. 229), of the official cadastre of the parish of Saint Colomb de Sillery, county of Quebec, being a land situate on the north of the Cove road, at the place called " Wolfe's Cove "-?with buildings.
      2' Lot number two hundred and thirty (No. 230), of the official cadastre of tho parish of Saint Colomb de Sillery, county of Quebec, being a land situate at the place called " Wolfe's Cove " with buildings.
      3' Lot number two hundred and thirty one (No. 231), of the official cadastre of the parish of Saint Colomb de Sillery, county of Quebec, being a land situate at the place called " Wolfe's Cove "?with buildings.
      é" Lot number two hundred and thirty-two (No. 232), of the offioial cadastre of the parish of Saint Colomb de Sillery, county of Quebec, being a land situate at the place called " Wolfe's Cove "?
      with mill, wharf and outbuildings. Said Nos. 229, 230, 231 and 232, to be sold in one and same lot.
      6" Lot number one hundred and sixty eight (No. 108), of the official cadastre of the parish of Notre Dame de Québec (Banlieue), being a ground and beach lot situate at the place called "Ottawa Cove " with buildings, wharf, circumstances and dependencies. Subject to a yearly rent of eighty dollars in favor of the Reverend Religious Ursuline Ladies of Quebec, payable half yearly on the thirtieth of April and October of every year.
      To be sold at my office, in the city of Quebec, on the EIGHTEENTH day of October next, at TEN o'clock in the forenoon. The said writ returnable on the tenth day of November next.
