Notes |
- Godparents - James Kelly and Ann Connolly (Mrs. James Flanagan). Ann's parents were Patrick Connolly and Rose O'Brien (married Febuary 13, 1821 in Sainte-Foy, Quebec); she was born on June 13, 1825.
Alfred was educated at College Levis. He started his business career at the office of Judge Irvine. He started working for the Johnson Asbestos Company, Thetford Mines in 1884, holding the position of Secratary Treasurer from 1897 to 1940.
He was devoutly religious and sincerely tolerant of the religious views of others. His unselfish devotion to his family was shown by the fact that he chose to make a home for them in Quebec City, a center that offered greater educational facilities than did Thetford Mines. He therefore was with his family only on weekends and endured the burden of travel back and forth without complaint.
Among those joining the family at his funeral were the following: Lucien Borne (Mayor of Quebec), Colonel J. S. O'Meara, Colonel Henri Gagnon, the Johnson family from Thetford Mines, Howard Visser, Stanley Briggs, A. McCammon, Amedee Giguere, J. Mooney, Colonel S. McGreevy, Charles Delagrave, Joseph Dinan (MLA), Alfred Lafrance, L. C. Pharo, C. S. Ives, George Dick, W. K. MacLeod, Wilfrid Pinelli, Reverend M.H.W.
